The primary focus of many enterprises is the worthiness of every investment that it makes. With this, the relevance of businesses investing in Inkjet Printer (Ink) and Laser Printer (Toner) comes to mind. For instance, the question “Which is more worth it: Ink or Toner?” emerges.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INK AND TONER

TONER

  • Laser Printer
  • Powder
  • Long Shelf Life
  • Low Cost/page
  • High Initial Cost
  • High Page Quantity (Approx. 2000-20,000)
  • Document Printing

INK

  • Inkjet Printer
  • Liquid Ink
  • Short Shelf Life
  • High Cost/page
  • Low Initial Cost
  • Low Page Quantity (Approx. 500)
  • Photo Printing

Toner would’ve already won, but I think we have not establish the main reason why Inkjet printers and Laser Printers are nearly the same in terms of price.

The technology that these printers hold are almost the same. Some of their difference are the ones that have been displayed above. So, for enterprises such as SME’s, getting a printer will be based on their company’s needs. For instance, a company is more focused on printing marketing materials such as posters, brochures, etc., then the inkjet printer will be more appropriate. Contrastingly, if it needs to execute high-quantity-document printing, laser printer will be the choice.

In conclusion, the need to compare ink and toner becomes futile because the choice with regards to investing in the right type of printer really depends on the user’s need. So, Which is more worth it: Ink or Toner? You decide.
